This is a result of a concerning spike detected by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in the number of pancytopenia cases in cats throughout the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What should I do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have bought any of the products detailed in the food recall, you should not feed them to your cat. Instead, you should do the following.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check if you have bought the affected products and batch code(s) \/ \u00abuse-by \/ best before\u00bb date(s). You can do this by taking a picture of the notice on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foldhill.co.uk\/fold-hill-foods-ltd-is-recalling-a-number-of-products-it-manufactures-on-behalf-of-partner-brands\/\">Fold Hill website<\/a> or writing down the batch code(s) \/ \u00abuse-by \/ best before\u00bb date(s) for reference at home.<\/li>\n<li>Return the product(s) to the store for a full refund (with or without a receipt).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is pancytopenia?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the blood, there are three types of cells:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the organs;<\/li>\n<li>white blood cells, which fight infection; and<\/li>\n<li>platelets, which help with coagulation or blood clotting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pancytopenia means that all these cell populations are lower than normal.
